How to Return or Exchange an Item at Zappos
Zappos is an online retailer that specializes in shoes, but the company also sells handbags, clothing and beauty items. There is no offline Zappos store, so all purchases must be made through the online website. Zappos offers one of the best return policies in retail. As long as your item is in new condition and you have the original box or package, you can return your item for one year.
Returning an Item
Returning items in person: There are no Zappos stores, so customers must use the online return method to return items purchased from Zappos.
Returning items online: Zappos offers a three-step process for returning your purchases. There are also videos on the Shipping and Returns page for customers who want a more visual explanation of the Zappos return policy.
- Step 1: Log in to your account and find the order number for the order that includes the item you wish to return.
- Step 2: Click the boxes next to the items you wish to return and then click the Returned Checked Items button.
- Step 3: Fill out the information about how you want to be credited and print the pre-paid return label. Click the Return Items button.

Official Zappos Return Policy
According to Zappos, there are no hidden tricks to the return policy. As long as you have the original packaging, you can return your Zappos purchase within 365 days of your purchase without hassle. If you purchase the item on February 29th, the leap year date, you actually have four years to return the item.

Zappos.com customer service can be reached at 1-800-927-7671. The customer service representative that took our call was amazing, but we had to make it through the automated system before we were able to reach that representative. After the automated answer, we were asked to press #3 for returns. We did and we expected to have to wait for an answer, but Ranale answered the call immediately. She was bubbly and walked us through the returns process without asking for an order number. She did advise us that all returns are processed online.
