How to Return or Exchange an Item at Banana Republic

Banana Republic is a clothing and accessory store operated by the Gap. The store offers hip, surfer-style lines designed for customers in the teen and early 20s market. There are Banana Republic stores and an online shop where customers can order merchandise. Most stores operated by the Gap have the same general returns policy.

Returning an Item

Returning an item to a Banana Republic store: Simply take the item you wish to return into your nearest Banana Republic store for a refund of the purchase price. Locate a store in your area by visiting the Store Finder at http://bananarepublic.gap.com/customerService/storeLocator.do. You will be asked for the purchase receipt, but not all returns require a receipt. The store has the ability to choose whether or not to accept your return. The refund will be processed to the card used to make the purchase.

Returning an item online: You also have the option of returning the item by mail if you purchased it online. Circle the item you’re returning on the packing slip and place the packing slip in the box before mailing. Your return label is attached to the original packing slip. You can print off a replacement packing slip online using your online account. If you need another prepaid label the UPS label link here https://secure-bananarepublic.gap.com/profile/returns_address_entry.do or a USPS label here http://www.shipmentmanager.com/Gap/default.aspx?merchantid=1393.

We called Banana Republic customer service at 1-888-277-8953. The call was answered by an automated voice that asked us to choose an option, but none of the options were associated with a return. We chose the More Options option, but none of the options in the second list had anything to do with returns. Finally we chose Existing Orders and then Returns and Exchanges. The call was then transferred to a customer service representative who told us we needed to print the return label and mail the package to the Groveport address. The total call lasted more than five minutes; three of which were spent making it through the automated system.

  1. I bought a sweater last month, I worn it only one time and the sweater had difault. I tried to returned the manager refused to return and also to provide me the 800 number, the treat I received was very low and did not want return the sweater or to give me customer service #, but I found the number called them but did not resolve the problem. My exprience @ banana republic was bad, I decided not to purchase anything, and to take my bussiness to different place. eventhough that was my store for many years unfortunately I have to leave them I am not sutesffied with customer service and the management in the store that I visited to return the product or to get a store credit.

  2. I have always had great customer service when it comes to Banana Republic. I purchased a pair of black wool pants and upon wearing them, noticed that part of the inseam was not sewn together. I ordered them online, but took them back to the store (after wearing them) and had not problem with getting a full refund.

  3. I’ve been a loyal customer of Banana Republic for many years and would spend and average of about $4000 there per year. Unfortunately, I had a horrible experience similar to the first poster, though I was not trying to return anything, I was trying to utilize a 10% off promotion that I received in the mail. The manager was extremely rude and refused to give me the 10% off (of a $300 purchase) and then refused to give me the 800 number or his name. I have not gone back since and have instead started going to J Crew – higher price point but better quality and customer service make it worth it.

    • I took advantage of this deal and was able to cmboine it with a $10 credit voucher I had recieved from being a gap card holder. Got some super cute stuff for my 9 year old, she will be super excited!~
